Let us love
Love – The Christmas period is always a time for sober reflections as much as it is a time for celebrations. This is the time a lot of companies open their arms to reach out to the needy with alms and provisions. While this is good thing to do, there is a call to live higher than this.
Every day, people suffer. They are in a constant struggle for food, drink, cloth and shelter. From beginning of year to end of year, they fight diseases and are in constant danger because of the unhealthy situations they live in. These ones cannot wait for end of year visits to orphanages and vulnerable group homes; they need care round the clock.
We have a responsibility to love, just as we have been loved. We have a responsibility to give, just as we have been given. We must reach out with the measure of love we have been given.
This is not to condemn your heart, neither is it to belittle the good things you have done for the less privileged; it is to encourage you to do more for their wellbeing. It is an encouragement to your heart to be a blessing just as you have been blessed. It is a call to give to those who have nothing so that they can know that they are loved.
In our sober reflections this season, let us think on those who do not have food to eat. In planning our new year resolutions, let us consider those who are in dire need of the most basic things. Let us love, just as we have been loved.
